Meet Dr. Gurrnit Chattha

A Journey of Compassion and Expertise

I am Dr. Gurrnit Chattha, a licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY 30538) in California, and I've been in private practice since 2021. My extensive professional journey has led me through various settings, including public schools, community mental health organizations, colleges, and hospitals. This diverse background has equipped me with the skills and insights to help you navigate the challenges you are facing.

Rooted in Values, Driven by Passion

My passion for helping others began early in life, inspired by the Sikh values of Seva, which means to serve others. Spirituality and Sikhi have been fundamental to my upbringing, instilling in me a deep commitment to service. The joy and fulfillment I gain from helping others have been reinforced through numerous personal experiences. Therapy has also been a powerful force in my own life, helping me navigate personal transitions and overcome obstacles.

Understanding and Overcoming Challenges

As an immigrant from India who moved to California during my early teens, I intimately understand the challenges and experiences of navigating a new culture. My South Asian heritage is deeply cherished, and I am well-acquainted with the stigma surrounding mental health within our community. My mission is to help others overcome this stigma and heal intergenerational trauma. I have also worked extensively with individuals and families impacted by addiction, particularly within the South Asian community, to help them overcome this family disease.

Philosophy and Personal Practices

I believe in the transformative power of therapy to foster internal changes and help you live the life you desire. My own life's ups and downs have taught me valuable lessons and provided me with wisdom that I use to help others develop a grounded sense of self. I am a strong advocate for self-care and the power of healthy daily habits. My personal practices include meditation, journaling, and yoga to maintain my well-being. In my free time, I enjoy dancing, hiking, traveling, watching movies, and spending days at the beach.

I am here to support you through life's challenges and help you achieve personal growth and mental well-being. Let's embark on this journey together.
